no title as of yet

my patience for waiting on change is wearing thin
there is a flash on the horizon
thunder tumbles over the hills
i wonder if the storm will rain on me tonight or never

lightening strikes in the distance
i wish i contained it's energy within me
movement, kinetics, a positive charge

i've given up on dancing for rains that never come
with a flash on the horizon
i catch a glimpse of an approaching front
citizen of circumstance, i can't force a force of nature

lightening strikes in the distance
i wish i contained it's energy within me
movement, kinetics, a positive charge

i could hope for nothing less than a torrential rain
a watery bombardment
rinsing clean my dirty skin
i'm covered in the filth of my own stagnant way of living

So, I came up with the term sinfomercial while I was thinking to myself last night. I thought I'd try to make this site a little more interactive, so I have an assignment for you. I want you guys come up with some applications for the word sinfomercial.
(O.K., so the real deal is, I couldn't think up anything interesting about sinfomercial, and I needed something to post today.)

Anyway, if you think of a really clever idea for sinfomercial, don't just make a comment about it, put it on the ::board::. It hasn't got any use recently and it's feeling left out. I've already made a sinfomercial thread, so have at it and have a blast!

Here are some questions to help get you started:

  • What products would they sell on a sinfomercial?
  • How much would the products cost?
  • Who would be the host of a sinfomercial?
  • How would the host go about showing you that you can't live without the product?

Although most of the CD seems to blend into one big, long, sad song, I find myself listening to Further Seems Forever's The Moon Is Down over and over. Maybe this is a resulf of the well-crafted lyrics lover in me, or maybe it's my desire to fit in with the growing "emo kid" crowd. After all, if there's one thing in life that I want to do -- that I need to do -- it's fit in. Why else would I wear an Old Navy jacket? Anyway, here's the lyrics to the title track of the aforementioned album:

The Moon Is Down
the moon is down,
and heaven is waiting
for us to find her in our sites
with focus that's strong,
but my strength keeps slipping.

now we're all the terminal cases,
but we're so determined to thrive.
and those with defeat on their faces,
are those that we must keep alive.
and I admire your strength.
you keep us going on.
you keep us fighting long after the fire.

you've measured our strides,
marked the degree of our fever.
charted the log.
made sure the temperature's rising.

to fan the flames,
and brandish our new courage proudly,
as if it were ours from the outset.
as if we were never alone.

the moon is down,
and heaven is waiting,
for callers and entries
as we're calling out:
"this is ours, ours, ours. this one is ours!"

now we're all the terminal cases,
but we're so determined to thrive.
and those with defeat on their faces,
are those that we must keep alive.
and I admire your strength.
you keep us going on.
you keep us fighting
long after the fire.

My sister was lying asleep on the couch. Her Coke was on the coffee table, just waiting for me to drink it. So I pick it up, it's half-full! I put the can to my mouth and take a big swig. Mmm, it's delicious. But what's this, I feel something odd in my throat, so I remove the can from my lips and start to cough.

My sister wakes up with wide eyes and stretches. When she comes to her senses, she notices me coughing up a lung; she notices that I'm holding her can of Coca-Cola in my hand. With a start, she nearly jumps from the couch. "Don't drink that!" she shouts. "I put a tick in there!"

Oh, I think, so that's what I'm choking on.

I went to my friend Michael's wedding yesterday. It was a beautiful ceremony -- a small church packed with friends and relatives. The bride laughed and the groom cried. These two havn't know eachother for a year yet, so it came as a surprise to me that they would get married. And I would have loved to have speculated on the length and quality of their marriage, but after seeing their faces as they walked hand in hand down the aisle, I know that they will always enjoy and adore eachother.

Attending this wedding and seeing one of my friends and peers make such a commitment makes me wonder if I'll ever even get married. I feel that I could never maintain a long relationship. In fact, the most recent relationship I've had lasted for two months, and I was fine with that. It was a month longer than I expected it to last! It's not that don't want to tie myself down or anything, I am far from a ladies man, or a "player" as the kids are calling them nowadays. I just don't seem to have the time -- or the patience -- to work on such an endeaver. Or maybe it's just that I don't care to take the time. After all, I am still much the kid I was in fifth grade who didn't really understand why all the other guys in his grade had, in the span of a year, quit hating girls because they had cooties, and had started asking them out to the movies. I still am intimidated by girls; I constantly wear a shirt claiming that "Girls Are Mean." I even still refer to women as "girls."

But beyond this immaturity, there is a cacophony of questions being asked of myself: What do I have to offer in a relationship? What am I willing to give up for a relationship? What am I willing to tolerate for a relationship? How do I start, and if need be, how do I end a relationship? How much time must I devote to my partner? How much should I expect of my partner? What type of person will I want my partner to be? What type of person won't I want my partner to be?

These questions and more answered . . . well, sooner than later, I hope! After all, I would like to get married some time between next week and before I die. Until then, I'll be contemplating my answers.

It even sickens me how many of these pseudo-love poems I churn out. But they're just so easy!
no title
Daydream rendezvous
Imaginary interviews
In my mind I'm perched on the edge
And perilously close to falling in Love with you
I see you at the bottom
But I guess it's too much to ask you
To fall against gravity
And fly into my arms

I went to my friend Kyle's house last night and we played Hero Quest for a while. Then we started to watch an anime one of his coworkers had lent him called Neon Genesis Evangelion. I've watched the first 8 episodes in the 26 episode series. It is pretty good, I must say.

The series starts out confusing (but what anime doesn't) but quickly remedies that with some wonderfully drawn art and great action. And as the story progresses, the plot actually gets deeper and has twists (it's not just another mech suit series!).

But the series isn't all serious action, there are some fun parts -- Pen Pen is one of the best random animal characters I've seen in any anime series.

The only downfall is the few random scenes peppered throughout the episodes that are about 30 seconds to a minute long of someone just staring at the ground (complete with cricket noises in the background). But at least there are no prolonged scenes of someone grunting while their eyes flicker -- fans of Dragon Ball Z know what I'm talking about.

Overall, I'd say this is a really good series so far, and I'm excited to see how it turns out.

The new flavor that's rockin' my mouth is Vanilla Coke! I love this junk; it's great! It's a mix between cream soda and fine Cokey goodness.

I get angry when there's no more Vanilla Coke left!

While I was staying with Melandnicole (they have become one entity) we went to the theater to see The Powerpuff Girls Movie. I thought it would be a lame girly-ized version of the show -- which I do enjoy from time to time. I was, however, pleasantly surprised (very similar to the time I saw and liked Josie and the Pussycats).

After watching it, I have decided that it was one of the funniest movies I've ever seen . . . seriously. Maybe you have to be a fan of the show to appreciate some of the humor, but I thought it was excellently done. The animation was cool, the voices were good, the characters were well-played, and the plot was simplistic but still enjoyable.

If nothing else, go to see this movie for Mojo Jojo. Jojo shines in this movie! If you thought he was hilarious on the show wait until you see his primate army. But oh, I've said too much. Just go see the movie. Trust me, you'll like it!

So, I'm back from Cornerstone Festival (actually, I was back two days ago, but I've been sleeping a lot since then). Here are some quick comments on things that have happened in the past week and a half:

Cornerstone Festival
I saw many of my favorite, reliable bands such as MxPx, blindside, Ghoti Hook, .rod laver, and Stavesacre. But I also saw some cool bands that I hadn't heard of before this year. If you get a chance, check out these guys: Dead Poetic, Moss Eisley, and Further Seems Forever.

Mel and Nicole
Thanks you for buying stuff for us, letting us sleep at your houses, and generally just putting up with Justin and I. Oh, and thanks to Nicole's mom for cooking a steak and potato meal, letting me look at her pet spider, and being a super-cool lady.
